Idaho Has Guaranteed Elk, Deer, and Bear Tags

Idaho Whitetail Guides offers a complete line of archery hunts despite the “whitetail” name.  The business adopted the title many years ago, and it has worked out for them.  They offer whitetail, mule deer, bear, elk, turkey, and mountain lion hunts in Idaho’s Nez Perse/Clearwater area.  Idaho offers a licensing benefit like no other state I know.  If you buy a deer tag, since the price is greater than that for a bear or mountain lion, you can take one of these animals and tag it with your deer tag.  I learned this the hard way one fall as my guide came across a mature chocolate-phase bear.  “Do you have a deer tag?” he whispered.  Sadly, “No” was my response.
