The National Archery in the Schools Program is one of the best school sports. Unlike football, where you have to be large and nimble, or basketball, where height is a huge advantage, or track, where only the fastest survive, archery is an equal-opportunity sport. A youngster can be tall or short, thin or not so, fast or wobbly; physical characteristics do not matter. Most important is the self-discipline to listen to coaches, do homework (practice regularly), and perform under pressure. Plus, equipment is inexpensive, and practice can be done in a backyard or basement.
